The most common evaluation of how well a company has acted on results of a prior survey is to re-survey using the same questions asked previously. Most companies conduct employee surveys every 18 to 24 months but more and more are starting to conduct them on a 12 month basis. This way, companies can quantify the success of their efforts to make improvements in certain areas identified from previous surveys.

For an area identified as a high priority for action, a short survey containing 10 to 20 items relating to that area can be conducted 3 to 9 months after an initiative has been implemented. This way, the effectiveness of the initiative can be quickly gauged.

Of course, the ultimate evaluation of how well a company has acted on the results of a survey is to measure whether customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and company profitability have improved.
